Hapuna Beach

An arresting landscape, powdery white crystal sands, and this is one of the most iconic beaches in Hawaii. This beach is “one spot for all” kind of place. How to get There:

Plane- You can directly fly to Kona International Airport (West) or Hilo International Airport (East) and proceed towards Hapuna Beach in a cab or rent a car to reach this place. Otherwise, take a local flight from Honolulu to Kona or Hilo and reach Hapuna beach.

Hawaii National Park(Volcanoes)

There are more than four volcanoes in Big Island and almost five of them are active in nature. More than 70 million years of age, the volcanoes of Mauna Loa and Kīlauea are still spewing hot lava into the sea. Kīlauea is one of the youngest of all volcanoes and is active since 1983. Home to some exotic species and animals, this is one of nature’s biggest preserved secrets.Mauna Kea is regarded as the tallest sea mountain.

How to get There:

Plane and Bus/Taxi- You can catch a local flight from Honolulu to Hilo or Kona and from there proceed towards Plaza in a taxi. This park is a walk able distance from here. Otherwise, take a local flight from Honolulu to Kona or Hilo and reach this Park.

Waikiki

This place is well known for its beach, international shopping market, and nice restaurants. A gigantic crowd puller, a must visit destination for any compulsive tourist. Regarded as the most popular tourist destinations, south Oahu’s coastal town is a beauty unparallel in character.

How to get There:

  • Line Bus 19- Take the bus to reach Kuhio Avenue plus Lewers street to reach Waikiki.
  • Drive and shuttle service- There are lots of shuttle services available to Waikiki town in Honolulu.

Maui

How to Reach:

  • Bus- Line Bus 40-Nimitz Highway, opp Aolele Street to  Kamehameha Highway, Kaonohi Street if you are traveling from Honolulu.

Kailua-Kona Town

The town with the character, but it is quite a tacky place to visit; and that’s how this town can be described. A good place for snorkeling, Hawaiian sites, water sports activities and the beaches make an Itani deal spot for tourism.

How to Reach:

  • Plane- Reach via direct flights to Kona town from other parts of the island.
  • Combo services(Plane and Bus/Taxi)- Fly to Hilo and from Hilo travel towards Mooheau Bus terminal and then proceed towards Kailua-Kona or Fly to Kamuela and from Kamuela proceed towards Waimea Parker Ranch Shopping Center and then travel towards Kailua-Kona.

Magic Sands- A small Beach with great sunset views, best the place for bodyboarding and bodysurfing.This park is located at central Kailua-Kona,4 miles(south).This beach can disappear in the winter(high surf),t his eagerly known as ‘Magic Sands’.

Hulihe’e Palace- Built by ‘John Adams’ Kuakini in 1838, now host war memorabilia including Kamehameha spears. There is a guided tour of around 40 minutes and free concerts are held every month third Sunday with Hula and Hawaiian music.

Mokuʻaikaua Church- This church was completed in the year 1836, built with love stone with a height of 112ft, and is one of the tallest buildings in this town. Placed inside this church is a model of the ship of the missionaries, Thaddeus.

Three Ring Sanctuary- Dr.Goody’s animal rejuvenation and healing center; guided tours are available in this park.

Heb Kane Gallery- This gallery is situated inside  King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel near Ahuʻena Heiau.Learn more about  Hawaiian culture and history by visiting this place.

Waiʻaha Beach- A must visit location for hard core body boarders and for others a quiet place to relax.

Ahuʻena Heiau- A temple with the Hawaiin deity kiʻi image, a sacred place for all Hawaiians.

USS Arizona

One of the most memorable events in the history of the United States, a memorial to remember the “Pearl Harbor” attack on a small shrine inside.

How to Reach:

  • Shuttle service- If you are interested, please choose direct shuttle service to USS Memorial site.
  • Plane- If you are on the other part of the Island, then reach Honolulu by connecting local flights.

Best Time To Visit:

The Visitor center timings- 7 AM to 5 PM, all seven days a week.Holidays-New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Documentary Movie timings- 7.30 AM to 3 PM depending on the weather conditions.

Memorial Shrine – The names of those who sacrificed their lives in the attack are engraved inside.

Cutaways- The remains of the ship can be viewed here and oil still oozes from this ship on a daily basis.

Boat Tours- The tour duration is 75 minutes including a 23-minute film on the attack.

USS Oklahoma Site-The second ship which was attacked by the Japanese on Dec 7th, more than 430 members lost their lives. A memorial was established in the year 2000.For more details, visit the Punchbowl site.

Pacific Aviation Museum-This is a military museum which houses items relating to the US War in Vietnam and Korea.

USS Bowfin Submarine Park- A Historic site which traces the development of submarines right till the nuclear period, USS Bowfin is a must visit destination. A guided tour is also available and children below four are not allowed.

Pacific National Monument- A place to remember the victims of Pearl Harbor attack. There are two museums in this site which feature interactive multimedia content. Shopping for war memorabilia is common in this place.
