In her high school days, she was inspired by her math teacher to write her computer program using a BASIC programming language to keep track of basketball stats.

She has completed her Bachelor of Science degree in information systems at George Mason University in the year 1982 to 1986.

Her first career as a software developer for Navy systems. Then she has held many technical leadership and management positions for many consulting organizations in the Washington area.

In 1990, she started her career in Microsoft federal sales as Microsoft System Engineer and was promoted to Microsoft Technology Center Director in Microsoft in the year of 2004.

Presently, she is holding the position of CTO of the federal civilian business from 2011. AS CTO of Microsoft, she manages technical planning and IT decisions for a $600 million dollar business.

She helps agencies to become cloud-enabled, and to take advantage of the cloud while complying with federal mandates.

She has an excellent leadership quality which helps her to start Microsoft’s Technology Center for the Washington DC region.

She was inspired by her father who repeatedly said that she can do anything she wanted. Then she was inspired by her high school physics teacher who made students to write a research paper which helps her to know what she really wanted to do.

Then she was inspired by her oldest brother who is an engineer, through him she has some footsteps to follow.

She has completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland in the year of 1984 and has completed her Master of Science Degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in National Defense University in the year of 2006.

She has nearly 30 years of experience in Information Assurance/ Cybersecurity and Information System Security Engineering.

She was has been a member of the National Security Agency (NSA) workforce since 1984.

She was also a graduate of the Senior Leadership Development Program in the year 2007. She was promoted into the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service in 2008.

Kristen Baldwin started her career in a small company, which requires web support. She learned to find the IT bug and to do basic coding. She was encouraged by her parents to get a degree.

She has completed her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and her master’s degree in systems management from the Florida Institute of Technology.

She started her IT career at the U.S. Army’s Armament Research, Development, and Engineering Center, Pica tinny Arsenal. Then she worked as a science and technology advisor in the Army’s Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans.

In the year of 1998, she worked as Deputy Director, Software Engineering and System Assurance in Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
